As this oh-so-beloved year comes to a close, we're looking back at the biggest trends of 2016. This week, we're talking color and thanks to millennials, it's all about pink. Tumblr pink. Millennial pink. Glossier pink. Take your pick - it's the same damn color.

This pink isn't just your run-of-the-mill seasonal color trend. It may be the most coveted and adored color since the good ol' Pantone 18-1663 (Louboutin red.) In fact, brands are waging their bets on the color as more and more choose the rosy hue for branding and packaging. It's also taken over fashion outlets and Instagram feeds everywhere. It's even a hashtag. #TumblrPink has over 11,000 tags on Instagram as of today.

After some interesting choices from Pantone the past couple of years, 2016's double whammy of Rose Quartz and Serenity felt like a breath of fresh air. No offense to Serenity, but Rose Quartz pretty much had the year to itself. And if we let millennials choose, they'd (we'd) probably vote Rose Quartz in for a second term. Still, Pantone is forcing us to move on and look forward.

Greenery was named the color of 2017 which is super exciting, and all. I mean, really. Green is my favorite color! Plus, they mentioned all of these inspiring things about deep breaths and regrowth. It kinda feels like that's what we all need right now, am I right? Pantone specifically mentioned that this color is life-affirming. LIFE-AFFIRMING. Shouldn't that be enough to move us past our rose-colored obsession? Well, I hope so. But if I'm being honest, I can't promise I wont ring in the New Year in Glossier's signature pink nail polish.
