2019 Pantone Color of The Year

Finally, a Pantone Color of the Year we can get behind. While many in our crew supported the very regal and bright Ultra Violet for 2018, let’s give a big RIP to ones of the past that we didn’t love so much such as Marsala (2015) and Rose Quartz and Serenity (2016)…meh.

What we love about Living Coral, besides the fact that it’s on our website and in our brand colors, is the meaning behind it of a life-affirming color. As the Pantone people says, “it selected living coral partly as a way to remind people of ‘the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature.’”

We also love that it gives a not-so-subtle shootout to saving our coral reefs. As seen in Refinery29, “while the color is a poignant reminder of the damage inflicted by global warming on the Great Barrier Reef – earlier this year, scientists reported that 30% of the reef's coral was bleached and died during a ‘catastrophic’ nine-month marine heatwave in 2016 – Living Coral is a spirited, energizing shade, Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute tells Refinery29.” Reminder to be kind to our planet and a fantastic color to boot? We love it!

Here are a few of our favorite things for the “it” color of the year and steps you can take to protect coral reefs. May it bring joy, warmth and happiness to you in 2019!
