We have a lot of musical bones here at CPPR, but it’s hard not to have a crush on women with talent. Tori Kelly is my woman crush this week, and it’s not just because she has amazing hair. She has a voice of an angel, and she truly deserves some love.

So I have a soft spot for people with crazy vocal range because it’s something I wish I had. Singing high isn’t easy, and Tori Kelly does it flawlessly with her vocal chords sent from heaven. There may be some opinions that completely disagree with mine, but I do believe she deserves true recognition for her talent. What a lot of people don’t know is that Tori was actually on American Idol once. She auditioned and made it to Hollywood, but Simon Cowell wasn’t a fan. He called her voice annoying, but I don’t know if he still stands behind his statement today. This past Grammy Awards, she was nominated for a Grammy for “Best New Artist,” however, Meghan Trainor won the category. I was very upset, but I know her talent was recognized when she sang her duet with James Bay. I mean, WOW. Two beautiful people with beautiful voices making beautiful music. Amazing.

I’ve been crushing on Tori Kelly when she started her own YouTube page. She used to remix and create her own little tunes and post them on her YouTube channel. Her music and her small song tidbits would get stuck in my head over and over again. I have one stuck in my head right now just writing this blog! She kind of inspired me to get my own recording equipment because I loved the way she stacked her voice on top of one another to make a musical piece. I didn’t find success when I tried it myself, but hey... I’ll get the hang of it one day.

I obviously was a fan of Tori Kelly back then, and I still am a fan to this day. She has come so far, and her YouTube videos became so popular, she is now on her road to fame making wonderful and powerful music.
